Lost in a World of Painting

This week I'll share some
of my most recent creations.

The following piece
is dimensional. I designed 5
raised pieces that were cut
out and attached to a
plywood base.

Trim was added to the edges
to frame it out.

Blue Kitty.

Purple Kitty with some mixed media additions.

This is a sweet little kitty that started
as a pattern I drew and my husband
cut out for me on our scroll saw.

He used pine and said it was a really nice
material to cut. I painted the sides to
match the floral motif on the front.

I also drew a fish pattern for my husband to
cut out for me using the same pine.

It was fun painting something new.

Lastly is this yellow kitty
that I just finished this morning.

Such fun!

I hope you're having a wonderful day!

Thanks for stopping by.

Grand-pup and Painting

In a mother's heart there's a desire to nurture and care
for little ones that never goes away.

At least I can speak for myself, and don't
think I'm alone.

Many of my empty nester friends have gotten
pets at this stage in life.

That need to "mother" always has
a place in our hearts even when our
kids are grown and gone from the house.

These were my thoughts as I painted
this week's painting.

This past week I've been dog
sitting for the little white pup in
the next picture. His name is Finley
and he's a sweetie.

The little black cutie is my new
"Grand-dog" Gus.

He's only 8 weeks old.

He's the most adorable little Berniedoodle.

Here he is after sniffing around in
some mesquite leaves.

He's the sweetest puppy ever!

I just love him.

Growing up, I had an Aunt that
was a golden retriever breeder.

I have the fondest memories of going
over to her house to play with all the puppies.

Finley's heading back to his home tomorrow.

He'll be missed, but I'm really looking forward
to my future visits with Gus.

Hoping you're having a wonderful
week so far.

Warmest regards,

Terri

Daily Paintings of Late

My goal is to finish
a painting a day.

I'm not always successful
with that goal, but I have
been successful in pressing
forward whether I reach it or not.

This fact is a win for
me on it's own.

Here are some
of my most recent
accomplishments.

I'll keep my words
to a minimum in this post.

Thank you for visiting
and touching base.

I hope you have a fabulous week!

Superior and Artsy Sites to See

This week is a little mix of
work and play.

Although, I'd never call creating
artwork, actual work.

Onward, to some play and play then. . .

Here are a few of my pieces from this
past week.

~Mixed media fun.

Pink kitty

Mixed media with colored pencils,
paint, and collage papers.

Blue eyed Frida mixed media

Folk art bird.

The quote is one of my favorites on faith:

Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings
when the dawn is still dark. -Tagore

Been there. . .

On Saturday, we took a visit to Superior
Arizona. It's not too far from our house.

Here are a few fun pictures of the
desert and the town.

The fruit on the saguaro's are open
now, feeding many of the desert animals.

That's Picketpost Mountain
in the background.

They drop from the top to the ground
and feed more creatures there.

Isn't it pretty?

This was one of the fun artsy houses
we drove by.

This house made me smile when
I saw John Wayne at the front door.

The following are some of the
town shops with their murals.

Thank you so much for
visiting!

I hope you have a wonderful week.

Little Girl At Heart Art

As I look over this collection
of pieces from the past
week, it reminds me that I'm
still a little girl at heart.

Bright colors
and cheerful themes
are what I'm drawn to.

I'm the same way when it comes
to movies.

I want to leave the theater uplifted and happy,
not drained or discouraged.

There's enough heavy stuff
going on in every day life.

Movies and art tend to be pleasant escapes
for me most of the time.

*******

The following are mostly mixed
media pieces, which
I've been having fun
with lately.

The saying on this last piece is actually
one of Willie Nelson's song titles.

My dear artist friend Dede and I both
love Willie Nelson music and this
is her favorite song of his.

It makes me smile.

Thank you for visiting.

I hope you have a fabulous and productive week!

Painted Lamp

I've been all out of sorts when it comes
to artwork these past few weeks.

My husband is home for the summer
and my daily schedule is all off kilter.

My creative spark has fizzled
and I'm hoping it's just a temporary slump.

I've figured out it's going to take
some effort on my part to get back
on track and figure out my new routine
while he's here.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice having him home,
it's just that it's not the same as being alone.

I'm working on figuring it all out.

* * *

In the meantime, I've been doing some spring cleaning
and rearranging in the house.

There was an all white lamp and shade on my
nightstand that I decided to move into our family room.

Before I did that, I thought, 'Why not give it some color?'

I think it turned out pretty
cute and gives a nice pop of color
to the family room.

Now it's on to the rest of the day. . .

I hope you're enjoying yours.

Until next time,
Terri

Funky Frame and Pig Painting

As I was painting the goat picture,
I noticed a butterfly I'd
asked my husband cut out of wood for me
sitting on one of my work tables.

I put it behind my painting on the side so
just one of the wings was showing.

That's it! I'll give my painting "wings"
instead of a traditional frame.

I drew out some patterns and my husband
cut them out and attached them to the
painting for me.

Viola! First painting completed.

Yesterday, I started on my pig
painting. These two (the goat and the pig paintings) will be
on either side of the barn doors.

I have a couple flying pigs
that'll go on the barn doors that I'll share
with you in another post.

Today I'm finishing up on
the pig and painting the "wings"
on this one.

After this, I have a cow
painting and a bunny hutch to finish.

I'm hoping to get it all done within a week. . .

Back to work!

Hope you're having
a wonderful week.

Until next time.

Terri

Goat Folk Art Painting

A dear lady who owns a farm animal
sanctuary asked if I could do some more
artwork for her. (My husband and I have done
some work for her in the past).

She'd like a goat, pig, and cow painting.

I've got the goat just about finished, and have
been working on a few other things
to help cheer and brighten up her place
(not that it's not already really cheerful).

I thought of this unconventional funky frame idea
after I'd already started this piece. My husbands
been working on that.

Unfortunately, for him to attach it, it may mean
a lot of nail holes and wood putty to cover those holes
of the front of this piece.

I told him to just do what he needs to
do and I'd go back over and fix what needs
to be fixed.

Between you and me, I'm hoping not much.

When I finish something, I like to wash my
hands of it, and not have a potential redo in my future.

I'll be sure to post a picture
after the "frame" has been attached.

Hoping you're having a wonderful week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Folk Art Kitties

I had fun painting these cats on
blocks of wood on a previous post
and decided to paint some more.

After drawing some cat patterns on wood,
my husband kindly cut them out for
me on our scroll saw and I got to work.

I haven't signed this one yet
because I'm not sure if I'm finished.

This one is definitely done
and ready to be varnished.

I have them it a few different
sizes, so they'll be fun to work on.

In the meantime I've got a larger
project looming before me that
I'll blog on in a future post.

For now, it's back to work.

Hoping you're having a
wonderful week so far!

Sah-WAR-oh Folk Art

Saguaro's are a sign
of HOME for me.

They're sometimes refered
to as the sentinels of the desert.

It's so much fun creating worlds
where pink houses, real rosy
cheeks, turquoise hair, AND saguaro's exist.

Mixed Media~ "Aloha"

I had so much fun creating this piece.

I've been dreaming of an island
getaway lately since our temperatures
have exceeded 105 this past week.

I used texture, jewel embellishment,
decoupage, paint, ink, pencils,
you name it.

Today I'm working on another bird
house that my husband made last week.

I'll post pictures of that when I'm finished.

I'm feeling a little rushed today with
all I want to accomplish.

Better get to it!

Happy creating and thanks for visiting.
