Little Girl At Heart Art

As I look over this collection
of pieces from the past
week, it reminds me that I'm
still a little girl at heart.

Bright colors
and cheerful themes
are what I'm drawn to.

I'm the same way when it comes
to movies.

I want to leave the theater uplifted and happy,
not drained or discouraged.

There's enough heavy stuff
going on in every day life.

Movies and art tend to be pleasant escapes
for me most of the time.

*******

The following are mostly mixed
media pieces, which
I've been having fun
with lately.

The saying on this last piece is actually
one of Willie Nelson's song titles.

My dear artist friend Dede and I both
love Willie Nelson music and this
is her favorite song of his.

It makes me smile.

Thank you for visiting.

I hope you have a fabulous and productive week!

Painted Lamp

I've been all out of sorts when it comes
to artwork these past few weeks.

My husband is home for the summer
and my daily schedule is all off kilter.

My creative spark has fizzled
and I'm hoping it's just a temporary slump.

I've figured out it's going to take
some effort on my part to get back
on track and figure out my new routine
while he's here.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice having him home,
it's just that it's not the same as being alone.

I'm working on figuring it all out.

* * *

In the meantime, I've been doing some spring cleaning
and rearranging in the house.

There was an all white lamp and shade on my
nightstand that I decided to move into our family room.

Before I did that, I thought, 'Why not give it some color?'

I think it turned out pretty
cute and gives a nice pop of color
to the family room.

Now it's on to the rest of the day. . .

I hope you're enjoying yours.

Until next time,
Terri

Bunny Hutch

I received this bunny hutch
when it was looking a bit
tired and needing a little lift.

It was stained wood
with black grating.

Why didn't I take a picture
before I started??

* * *

First, I drew out patterns of a flower
and butterfly and my husband
kindly cut them out of wood
on our scroll saw.

I decided to spray paint the base.
With all the wire and intricate structuring
it just made more sense.

That said, I rarely use spray paint, but
I'm glad I did in this case.

You can see Maybelline came to check
things out.

On a side note, we've noticed she's been
biting the fur off the back of her tail.

She's 11 years old and has never done
that before.

Hmmm. . .

I'm hoping the bunnies will enjoy
their new digs.

Thanks for visiting!

Funky Frame and Pig Painting

As I was painting the goat picture,
I noticed a butterfly I'd
asked my husband cut out of wood for me
sitting on one of my work tables.

I put it behind my painting on the side so
just one of the wings was showing.

That's it! I'll give my painting "wings"
instead of a traditional frame.

I drew out some patterns and my husband
cut them out and attached them to the
painting for me.

Viola! First painting completed.

Yesterday, I started on my pig
painting. These two (the goat and the pig paintings) will be
on either side of the barn doors.

I have a couple flying pigs
that'll go on the barn doors that I'll share
with you in another post.

Today I'm finishing up on
the pig and painting the "wings"
on this one.

After this, I have a cow
painting and a bunny hutch to finish.

I'm hoping to get it all done within a week. . .

Back to work!

Hope you're having
a wonderful week.

Until next time.

Terri
